Arkansas Sports Media Basketball Super Teams Announced

The 2023-24 high school basketball season ending nearly a month ago and on Friday, the sixth annual Arkansas Sports Media High School Basketball Super Teams were released.

Girls

There are two girls who were unanimous selections this season and they headline the Super Team’s First Team.

Greenwood senior Anna Trusty makes her second straight appearance on the Girls’ First Team and was an honorable mention two years ago as a sophomore. She has led the Lady Bulldogs to three straight Class 5A state championships and she finished her career with 1,964 points and as Greenwood’s all-time leading scorer.

Trusty, who was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year, has not signed with a college yet.

Vilonia’s Sidni Middleton is the other unanimous selection and is the only junior on the First Team. She led the Lady Eagles to their second straight Class 5A state runner-up finish, scoring 24 points in this past season’s title game.

Mount Vernon-Enola senior Dessie McCarty led her team to the last two Class 2A state championships, going a perfect 43-0 in the 2023-24 season. McCarty, who has signed to play for Arkansas Tech, was on the Second Team last season.

Little Rock Central senior Jordan Marshall led the Lady Tigers to the Class 6A state championship, the first ever state title for Central’s girls program. She has signed with Louisiana Tech.

Farmington senior Reese Shirey led the Lady Cardinals to two straight Class 4A state titles. Signed with Northeastern State.

Salem senior Marleigh Sellars makes her second straight appearance on the Second Team. Last season led her Lady Greyhounds to the Class 3A state championship but was runner-up to Bergman in the past season. She has signed with Arkansas Tech

Cabot’s Jenna Cook is the other senior on the Second Team after she led the Lady Panthers to a 28-6 season and a trip to the quarterfinal round of the Class 6A State Tournament. She has signed with UCA.

Lamar junior Kori Sanders was an honorable mention last season even though she tore the ACL in her right knee during the regional tournament round. She bounced back to lead the new-look Lady Warriors to another state tournament appearance.

Conway junior Alexis Cox helped lead the Lady Wampus Cats back to the Class 6A state championship game for the second straight season.

Little Rock Christian’s Whitley Rogers is the only sophomore on either the first or second team.

Boys

Little Rock Central senior Annor Boateng is the only unanimous selection for the Boys’ Super Team, and makes his second straight appearance on the First Team.

Boateng, who has signed with Missouri, averaged  18.4 points and 7.9 rebounds a game and finished his career with 1,655 points. He was also named the MaxPreps Arkansas Player of the Year.

Boateng is also one of four players who are making their second straight appearance on the First Team.

Little Rock Christian’s Landren Blocker, who has singed with Louisiana Tech, led his club to a second striaght Class 4A state championship.

Farmington senior Layne Taylor, who finished his career among the top 5 all-time leading scorers in the history of Arkansas, led the Cardinals to a Class 4A runner-up finish and has signed with North Texas.

Pine Bluff’s Courtney Crutchfield led the Zebras to second straight Class 5A state title but his basketball career is done as he has signed with Missouri to play football.

Marked Tree’s Ladarius Brown is the only junior named to the First Team after he led the Indians to the Class 1A state crown.

Lake Hamilton senior Ty Robinson makes his second straight appearance on the Second Team. He has signed with Florida Atlantic.

Springdale Har-Ber junior Courtland Muldrew makes his second appearance as he was an honorable mention last season.

Juniors Terrion Burgess of Benton and Kellen Robinson of Bryant and sophomore J.J. Andrews of LR Christian round out the second team. Andrews is the only sophomore on either the first or second team, and makes LRCA the only team with two selections.
