Farmington head football coach J.R. Eldridge resigns to pursue a new business venture

Farmington head football coach J.R. Eldridge has announced he is resigning to go to work in the public sector.

ArkansasVarsity.com is told Eldridge met with his team on Monday morning to inform them before releasing a statement on social media regarding his resignation.

“For the past 24 years, by the grace of Jesus Christ, my mission has been to make a positive difference in the lives of those entrusted to me, and to compete for and win championships.

I coached for 10 years as an assistant at OBU for the best coach I know, Todd Knight, who is now the president of the AFCA. For 14 years I was a high school head coach, 9 at Arkadelphia, 1 at NLR, and 3 at Farmington. During my time as a head coach we were able to amass a record of 117-47 (72%). Our teams have won 2 state championships, appeared in the quarterfinals 7 times, semifinals 4 times, and the state championship 3 times.

I am grateful to my family, coaching staff, players, supportive administration and parents who worked hard and sacrificed to make memories that will last a lifetime.

I am jacked up about beginning a new and different chapter in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to join Geosurfaces as Director of Business Development for South Arkansas and North Louisiana.

Looking forward to the journey.”

Eldridge is considered to be one of the best coaches in Arkansas by his peers. ArkansasVarsity.com received numerous text messages from coaches across the state expressing their respect for Eldridge, and wishing him luck in his new venture.
