King Cotton Holiday Classic Day 2 Notebook/ Day Three Game Schedule

Day 2 of the 2023 King Cotton Holiday Classic is underway at the Pine Bluff Convention Center and ArkansasVarsity.com is on hand to bring you updates throughout the day.

We will provide brief recaps/stats following each game.

GAME ONE: PINSON VALLEY, ALA. 48, WHITE HALL 45

The White Hall Bulldogs tried to work their way back into it as they fell behind early to Pinson Valley, but the Indians shot well from the charity stripe late to pull away from the Bulldogs.

The Indians were led by Clyde Walters with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal. Cam Frost contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds while Jamarcus Thomas finished with 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal.

The Bulldogs were led by Jai’Chaunn Hayes with 25 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 blocks while Jordan Rasberry contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. Cameron Ramos helped with 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

GAME TWO: BENTON 71, SILSBEE, TX 65

The Benton Panthers picked a quality win over the 2022 King Cotton Holiday Classic Creed Bracket winner Sislbee, Texas in the second game of the day.

A.D. Grey led the Panthers with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 blocks.  Terrion Burgess followed with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 blocked shot. Dea’Juan Ellis added 10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal for the Panthers.

The Silsbee Tigers were led by Jared Harris with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block. Dre’lon Miller added 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals, while Payton Jones contributed 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.

GAME THREE: BOOKER T WASHINGTON 79, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 77

Booker T Washington outscored Archbishop Wood 51-35 in the second half in a come from behind victory Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles were led by Chris McDermott with 25 points, 27 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 blocks. Odis Carter Jr. added 25 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Abraham Kirksey, Jr. contributed 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

The Vikings were led by Jalil Bathea with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals while Josh Reed added 22 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals.

GAME FOUR: LITTLE ROCK CHRISTIAN 65, MCDONOUGH, GA 50

Little Rock Christian had their way with McDonough, Ga. Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Warhawks 65-50.

The Warriors were led by Jemel Wesley with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals followed by Landren Blocker with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block. JJ Andrews contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.

The Warhawks were led by Nigel Thomas with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist while Keenan Gray contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.

GAME FIVE: ST JOSEPH, CA 94, DUNCANVILLE, TX 77

St Joseph jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a dominating victory over Duncanville.

The Knights were led by Tounde Tessoufou with 46 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 blocks. His 46 points is a King Cotton Holiday Classic record for most points ever scored in a single game. Julius Rice added 30 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal while Abdul Bare contributed 6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 blocked shot.

Duncanville was led by BJ Davis-Ray with 26 points and 6 rebounds while Kayden Edwards added 25 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist.

GAME SIX: ST FRANCES, MD 60, SANDY CREEK, GA 46

St. Frances had their way with Sandy Creek in the sixth game of the day, defeating the Patriots 60-46.

The Panthers were led by Trent Egbirmolen with 15 points and rebounds. Josiah Legree added 15 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist, while Cameron Fleming contributed 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal.

The Patriots were led by Jacobi Robinson with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Amari Brown added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

GAME SEVEN: GONZAGA, D.C. 91, PINE BLUFF 70

The Pine Bluff Zebras ran into a buzz saw in the #5 ranked team in the nation, the Gonzaga College Eagles. Pine Bluff was able to pull within 5 at the end of three following a Courtney Crutchfield 3 pointer at the buzzer, but the Eagles outscored Pine Bluff 25-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Gonzaga was led by Nykolas Lewis with 23 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals followed by Derek Nixon with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Alex Touomou followed with 11 points and 2 assists.

Pine Bluff was led by Courtney Crutchfield with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Deriyon Graydon finished with 14 points 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block for the Zebras.

GAME EIGHT: WESTMINSTER ACADEMY, FLA. 62, LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL 45

After trailing in the first half Wesminster Academy outscored Little Rock Christian 37-15 in the second half to earn their way into the King Bracket Championship Game against Gonzaga College at 7 p.m. Friday night.

The Lions were led by Alex Lloyd with 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in addition to Jerimia Police with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 blocked shot. Dwayne Wimbley finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.

The Tigers were led by Annor Boateng with 34 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot, and 1 steal. Luke Moore added 9 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
